Early schooled at the US Military Academy from 1833 to 1837 where he became the 18th graduate in a 50 students class (Civil War Trust, 2014). He became famous for irascibility at the Academy, a reputation that followed him all through his career. Moreover, his trend to insults played a role in a dispute with Armistead Lewis, the future Confederate General (History.Com, 2009). Early was later appointed to the position of the 3rd US Artillery Regimen where he served briefly in the Seminole War two of the 1835-1842 and resigned in 1838 to study law. Early also served in Virginias House of Delegates as a lawyer in 1843 and later in the same year, as an attorney for Co mmonwealth after proving to be a successful lawyer (History.Com, 2009). He volunteered in the 1846-1848s Mexican-American War. He stayed a bachelor for a long period but later had four children with McNealey Julia, a Virginia woman who he eventually divorced and married another man (History.Com, 2009).During the 1861-1865 American Civil Wars, Jubal Early served as the major general Confederate. Early passionately opposed secession before the Civil War but accepted orders later as the 24th Virginia Infantrys Colonel after taking part in raising three regiments in Lynchburg (Civil War Trust, 2014). In the role of Colonel, Early fought the first Bull Run battle on 21th July 1861 and performed well, actions that led to his promotion to the position of brigadier general soon afterwards (Civil War Trust, 2014). As the brigadier general, Early fought many major combats in the Eastern Cinema, including the Fredericksburg, seven days battle, Antietam, Chancellorsville, and the Second Bull Ru n (History.Com, 2009). He played the part in the fight against General McClellan George during the campaign in Peninsula and the conquest at the Malvern Hill battle (Civil War Trust, 2014).In 1863, Early became major general where he took part in the Gettysburg and Salem Church campaigns (Civil War Trust, 2014).
