Henrietta Lacks Ess Rants - Gum Disease of the MouthAs you may not know, Henrietta lacks ess is a teenage girl from Las Vegas. She is a nice little girl with a crush on her father. Henrietta recently had her wisdom teeth removed and she started getting mixed messages about what to do next.If you have seen the movie 'Thinner', you probably know that Henrietta lacks is has a condition called, 'Gum disease of the mouth'. It means that if she is in pain or discomfort she can't swallow. The good news is that Gum disease can be treated very easily. Unfortunately, Henrietta lacks ess is very tired and worn out so it takes a lot longer to treat her than it should.Gum disease is caused by weakened or missing tissue in the mouth. The symptoms are bleeding gums, swollen, red and tender gums, pain when chewing, and fever.The first step in treating gum disease is to get a look at the diagnosis. There are other possibilities like, salivary gland syndrome, gum infection, malocclusion, sore throats, allergies, gum disease and TMJ. (Temporomandibular joint disorder) Your dentist should be able to provide you with a thorough examination and they can even recommend a surgeon who specializes in oral problems. Henrietta lacks so should see a dentist as soon as possible because it will help your recovery time and the pain and discomfort she will experience will decrease.After a thorough examination the dentist will take a look at your mouth and teeth. They will check for any unusual discoloration, a tumor or tooth loss. There are usually two types of evaluation exams. One is the general exam where the dentist looks at your mouth from top to bottom to assess the position of your teeth and the condition of your gums.A second type of exam is a procedure called a 'chemotherapy procedure' where a tissue sample will be taken from your gum tissue. This is where Henrietta lacks ess gets mixed messages about what to do next. The dentist will perform a procedure known as scraping which involv es taking a small scrap of gum tissue.The doctor will then use a microscope to look at the sample tissue and examine it closely. This procedure is called removal of gum tissue. Henrietta lacks ess and her teeth will be replaced with artificial teeth.
